We teach kitesurfing at Turtle Bay Beach in Watamu. Ben, who grew up on this coast, runs the school with a small team of IKO-certified instructors, and we teach in English and Italian. We're a licensed Kenyan business, registered with Kilifi County. Most riders who come through Watamu have never kited before, so our lessons start from zero. If you already ride, we coach you further.

Who you'll ride with
Ben was born and raised in the coastal town of Watamu, Kenya. His love for the ocean sparked early on, leading him to discover kitesurfing during a trip to Zanzibar, Tanzania — where he learned the sport alongside a close friend and soon started teaching others himself, eventually earning his own certifications and opening Kite Adventures Watamu.

Good to know before you book
Is Kite Adventures Watamu a licensed company?
Yes — registered with the County Government of Kilifi under Kenyan law, based in Watamu.
What languages are lessons taught in?
English and Italian.
Do I need experience to book a lesson?
No — most riders who come through Watamu are complete beginners, and the school's lessons are built around that.
Is there a rescue boat during lessons?
Yes. A rescue boat is available whenever we teach, and it is also on the water during the camps. Students wear helmets with radios, so we can talk to you during the lesson.
When are lessons held, and what is the water like?
We usually teach at low tide. The water at Turtle Bay Beach is shallower then, which is the best time to learn, and the wind is also at its best. At high tide it is deeper. One stretch of the beach has rocks: we don't teach there, and independent riders should be careful.
Do you teach wing foiling?
Yes, we also do wing foil. Message us on WhatsApp for details and prices.
Can I store my own kite gear at the school?
Yes — gear storage is available, and includes help with kite launch and landing.
