Bangrak Beach, Koh Samui

We ride the bay of Bangrak Beach on the north coast of Koh Samui. Our base is on the sand in front of the Secret Garden Beach Resort, and the water starts shallow and calm right at the shore.

A calm bay on the north coast

At the eastern end of the bay, the big golden Buddha statue sits on its small island. The bay looks north, across to Koh Phangan, and is far more sheltered than the open east coast: on most days the water is flat, on some days small waves roll in.

Shallow at the shore

You start in water that reaches your knees or your waist, next to your board, and only ride out once you are up. Further out, between the moored boats and with the green hills of the coast behind you, you have the whole bay to fly over.

A secret garden, our little slice of heaven

Our boards stand on the beach of the Secret Garden Beach Resort, under the palms. We call it our little slice of heaven, and the sunrises and sunsets over the bay are a good reason to book the first or the last session of the day.

When to come

Any time of year. An e-foil needs no wind, so there is no wind season to plan your trip around.

Where exactly we ride and what to watch

From the shallow water at the shore we ride out across the whole bay. Out there some parts are deep and some are deeper, so you always have water under the foil.

What our instructors watch most are the old ropes in the water that used to anchor boats. They are marked with buoys, and your instructor keeps you clear of them.
