El Niño Surf Center — common questions
Do you teach kitesurfing in Can Pastilla?
Kitesurfing is not part of our programme. We teach and rent wingfoil, windsurf, eFoil, surf, stand up paddle (SUP) and kayak from our base on Playa de Palma. If you already kite, wingfoil is the natural next step — the wind window and the foil feeling are close enough that most kiters are riding within a session or two, and we run it from the same beach.
How long are the lessons and tours?
SUP and kayak lessons and guided tours start at 2 hours; surf, windsurf, wingfoil and eFoil are also available as 1-hour sessions. Longer courses run 6 hours over 2–3 days or 10 hours over 4–5 days. Course prices are per person: SUP, kayak and surf are €50 in a small group (4–8), €80 semi-private (2–3) and €120 private for a 2-hour session; windsurf is €130 semi-private and €200 private; wingfoil €160 semi-private and €240 private. eFoil is €250 per hour per board, which two people can share. Guided kayak and SUP tours are €39 per person.
Do I need experience to book a lesson?
No. Most of our students have never stood on a board. Every beginner lesson starts on the beach with a short theory and safety briefing before you go in, and the Bay of Palma is shallow, sheltered and mostly flat, so you spend the session actually riding instead of fighting the conditions.
What is the wind like in the Bay of Palma, and when is the best season?
We are open all year. From May to September a thermal sea breeze known locally as the embat fills in most days around midday and blows steadily through the afternoon — that is the window for wingfoil and windsurf lessons. Mornings are usually glassy and calm, which is when we run the guided SUP and kayak tours. Water temperature is around 26 °C in August; in winter we ride in wetsuits.
Can children take lessons?
Yes. We teach children in all our disciplines with boards and rigs scaled to their size, and every summer we run a kids' camp for ages 8 to 16 with SUP, surf, kayak and beach games. We also organise school groups and birthday sessions.
Is equipment included, and can I rent without taking a lesson?
All equipment is included in every lesson and guided tour. You can also rent on your own by the hour, half day, full day or week. Hourly: SUP board and paddle €15, surfboard €12, single kayak €15, double kayak €25, windsurf full rig €45, wingfoil full set €55, eFoil €250, wetsuit €10. Day rates: SUP €45, surfboard €40, kayak €50–75, windsurf €125, wingfoil €135, eFoil €650. SUP boards are also available for 3, 5, 7 and 10 days from €115. If you bring your own gear, a €10 day pass gives you lockers, showers, an equipment rinse and the rest area.
Where exactly are you, and is there parking?
Carrer del Vaixell 2, on the ground floor of Hotel El Cid in Can Pastilla, directly on Playa de Palma — 5 minutes from Palma de Mallorca airport (PMI) and about 10 from the old town. The seafront promenade and cycle path run past the door and there is street parking beside the centre.
