About Freeride Tarifa

Founded in 2016, Freeride Tarifa is an IKO-affiliated kitesurfing school based at Hostal Africa in Tarifa's old town. The school teaches kitesurfing, wingfoil, and kitefoil alongside equipment rental, with lessons taught in English, French, and Spanish by a team of IKO, FAV, and VDWS certified instructors. Every lesson uses radio headsets for real-time coaching and includes accident and liability insurance, backed by a money-back guarantee for hours lost to insufficient wind.

Do I need to be super fit to try kitesurfing?

Not at all - kitesurfing does not require great physical fitness. You just need to know how to swim and feel comfortable in the water.

Is Tarifa a good spot for beginners?

Yes. Conditions in Tarifa can be more challenging than at other kite spots, but complete beginners regularly finish their week happy with their progress.

What should I bring for my kitesurf lessons?

Sportswear, swimwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, a cap, and a refillable 1-litre water bottle. You can bring your own wetsuit - a 5/4 or 3/2 full suit depending on the season.
