About High Five Kitesurf School

High Five Kitesurf School is the only IKO-certified kite school in Cape Town, teaching from its base at 68 Beach Boulevard in Blouberg as well as on the Langebaan Lagoon. Co-owned by Alex Vliege, the school draws on more than two decades of local knowledge of Cape Town's winds and waters, offering private, group and semi-private lessons alongside its own on-site accommodation, the Kite House, and IKO instructor training courses.

Yes, private lessons are available in 2, 6, 10 and 12-hour packages alongside group and semi-private options.

Can an experienced rider rent gear without a lesson?

Yes, riders certified at IKO Level 3J or higher (consistent upwind riding) can rent kite gear by the half-day, day, or in longer unlimited packages, for use in front of the school only.

What happens if conditions are bad on a booked lesson day?

If wind conditions prevent a lesson, students keep their payment and are rescheduled to a suitable date; if no further lessons are possible, a full or partial refund is given depending on how much instruction was completed.

Does the school offer accommodation?

Yes, High Five runs its own on-site guesthouse, the Kite House, in Blouberg, with rooms ranging from dormitory bunks to en-suite doubles with ocean views.
