What qualifications must instructors have?
Instructors must have experience and a passion for teaching, along with national certification from the Spanish Sailing Federation and international IKO certification. They must also be registered with Social Security so that insurance covers accidents.
What formal requirements must a kitesurf school meet?
A kitesurf school should be approved by the Ayamonte town hall, the Andalusian Sailing Federation, the environmental authority, and the Junta de Andalucía's Active Tourism department, along with civil liability and accident insurance.
How important is the equipment?
Very important - the school uses equipment from the MYSTIC and ELEVEIGHT brands, renewed annually with up-to-date safety systems, using only professional inflatable kitesurf kites from day one.
What should I consider when choosing a kitesurf school?
The most important factors are the attitude and qualifications of the instructors, along with the quality and freshness of the equipment.
What's the difference between a group course and a private course?
Group courses offer an affordable introduction, while private courses let you learn as fast as possible with much greater progress.
What happens if I can't complete my course due to weather?
Isla Canela has more than 300 windy days a year, so this is unlikely. Only the hours actually used are charged; the rest is refunded.
Is it dangerous? Will I get lifted into the air?
Like any sport it carries some risk, but caution minimizes it. Instructors train students in kite control and safe limits.
How long does it take to learn?
The school's three-day, 9-hour courses are designed to give a solid foundation; each student progresses differently depending on aptitude and fitness.
