About Ocean Freaks World
Ocean Freaks World is an ISA-certified surf school on El Medio beach in Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, tracing its roots to the Q-Team Surf School opened in Venezuela in 2008. The team opened a summer base in Tenerife in 2011 and made it a permanent, year-round school in 2015. Alongside surf lessons and eFoil sessions, Ocean Freaks runs its own beachfront café and shop.

Do I need to know how to swim?
You need to be able to keep yourself afloat for a standard lesson.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel free of charge at least 24 hours before your lesson.
When should I arrive and how long do sessions last?
Arrive around 15 minutes before your session; group and family sessions last 2 hours, and one-to-one private lessons last 2.5 hours.
Are lessons suitable for my experience level?
Yes. Lessons cover complete beginners as well as people building on existing skills, and the instructor adapts the guidance to what you've tried before and what you want to work on. Private coaching offers one-to-one attention for specific goals.
Can children join a surf lesson?
Standard group lessons are for ages 14 and up. Children aged 6 to 13 should book a private or family session, and younger exceptions may be considered case by case if agreed with the team before booking.
What's included, and what should I bring?
Lessons include surf equipment and insurance. Bring swimwear, a towel, drinking water, and sun protection; the team helps you get ready before heading into the ocean.
What languages are the lessons taught in?
English and Spanish are the main teaching languages. Russian and Ukrainian are available depending on instructor availability, and other languages may be possible if confirmed before booking.
What happens if ocean conditions aren't suitable for a lesson?
If a lesson is cancelled due to ocean conditions, you can reschedule or get a full refund, and you don't have to accept a new date that doesn't work for you.
