About Raglan Surf School
Raglan Surf School was founded in 1999 and describes itself as New Zealand's first surf school. It is owned by longtime instructor Rock (Makarini) and operates from Ngarunui Beach, teaching surfing through group lessons, private lessons, family and private group sessions, and school programmes. The school is a locally and Kiwi-owned, family-run business that also rents boards and wetsuits from its beachside surf trailer.

Where do we meet?
Meet at the Ngarunui Beach carpark, by the red truck and surf trailer.
What do I need to bring?
Bring swimwear, a towel, and sunscreen. A surfboard and wetsuit are provided.
Do I need to book?
Yes, bookings are essential and can be made online. Rentals can be booked online or on the day at the beach carpark.
What if it's raining?
Lessons go ahead in the rain, since some of the best waves happen then. They only cancel if conditions are dangerous.
What if I need to cancel?
All bookings carry a 20% non-refundable deposit, and cancellations made less than 24 hours before the lesson make the full payment non-refundable.
Can children learn at Raglan Surf School?
