About Surf Emporium
Founded by eight-time South African surfing champion Roxy Davis, Surf Emporium is an accredited surf and stand-up paddle school based at Surfers Corner in Muizenberg, Cape Town. It combines lessons, equipment rental and a retail shop in one beachfront facility and is recognized as one of the world's top learn-to-surf destinations.

What is included in a surf lesson?
Lessons include a qualified Surf Emporium or Surfing South Africa Level 1 instructor, plus a wetsuit, rash vest and surfboard for the full 1.5-hour session.
What is the instructor-to-student ratio?
Lessons run at a maximum ratio of one instructor to five participants, and children under 10 are given an individual instructor.
Is Muizenberg safe for beginners?
Muizenberg is a sandy-bottomed beach break with gentle, forgiving waves of around 0.5 to 3 feet, and it is one of four beaches monitored year-round by the Shark Spotters programme.
What should I bring to my first lesson?
Bring a swimming costume, beach towel, sunscreen and a padlock for a locker; a personal wetsuit or surfboard is optional.
