How do I schedule a lesson?
Lessons can be scheduled online by choosing a location, course type and time.
When is the best time to learn?
Lessons are best scheduled when it is windy. The La Ventana location operates October through April, with peak winds October through March.
How many lessons do I need?
This depends on availability, but more consecutive days on the water produce quicker results. Most students need 5-7 lessons before purchasing their own equipment.
What can I expect from my first lesson?
The first lesson lasts three hours. The first hour covers launch and landing areas, wind conditions, gear setup and safety, followed by practice in kite flying, body and board dragging, and power strokes.
What do I need to bring?
Bring water, sunscreen, a rash guard and floating sunglasses. Wetsuits are provided during cooler months.
How long does it take to learn wingfoiling?
It depends on the individual, but learning to foil and ride upwind averages around 40 hours, though riders typically progress to water practice sooner.
What certification does Kite & Wing Academy have?
Kite & Wing Academy is IKO-certified.
Is gear rental available at Kite & Wing Academy without a course?
Yes — gear rental at Kite & Wing Academy is available — complete kite set (proficient riders only) at $130 (~€120)/day.
