About Kitepower El Gouna
Kitepower El Gouna is the oldest kitesurfing school in El Gouna, founded in 2004 and run today by co-owners Lukas and Andrea Vogeltanz since 2023 from a private, gated lagoon on the Red Sea coast. The school serves more than 5,500 riders a year with a fleet of over 250 Flysurfer kites, and is an IKO Pro Center and VDWS-accredited school offering kitesurfing, wingfoiling, boat foiling and pumpfoiling instruction. What happens if there is no wind during a course?
The school records over 300 windy days a year and offers a Wind Guarantee: any unused course hours move to another day rather than being lost.
What is included in a course price?
Course prices include equipment, a two-way BB Talkin helmet, harness, buoyancy aid, insurance and beach access, with no separate Kitepass needed for students.
Can a VDWS licence be taken on-site?
Yes, the school is VDWS-accredited and offers an on-site VDWS licence exam for €40, with an IKO skill record included with every course.
What is the minimum age or weight for kids' courses?
Kids' courses are open from around 20 kg body weight, usually from about 5-6 years old, subject to an individual readiness assessment.
Does the school offer accommodation?
The school does not operate its own lodging but directs guests to nearby partner properties such as Casa Cook and Mosaique, and arranges airport transfers.
What is the water like at the teaching spot?
The lagoon's first 800 metres form a knee-to-waist-deep sandy teaching area where beginners can stand to reset their kite, with separate zones for beginners, independent riders and wing/foil riders.
How many students are in a group lesson?
Group lessons are limited to a maximum of two students per instructor, and semi-private students are paired by similar weight to avoid waiting.
