Tarifa Kite Hostel — common questions
Do I need previous experience to join a kitesurf course?
Courses cover all levels, from complete beginners taking their first steps in kitesurfing to advanced riders looking to refine their skills.
How many lessons do I need to learn kitesurfing?
Progress depends on wind and sea conditions, the type of course, and the individual, since everyone advances differently. Private courses usually progress faster since an instructor is available the whole time. As a general rule, after 3-4 days you should have the tools needed to take your first steps, and progress accelerates quickly from there.
Where do the kitesurf lessons take place?
Lessons are usually given at Los Lances beach, sometimes at Poniente locations, or at Palmones during strong easterly winds.
Is kitesurfing a sport for everyone?
The only requirement is knowing how to swim.
What safety measures are in place?
Experienced instructors dedicated to safety, high-quality equipment kept in perfect condition, three rescue boats always available on the water, and civil liability and accident insurance in compliance with Tarifa town hall and the Andalusian Sailing Federation, allowing the school to operate as a licensed kitesurf school.
What should I bring?
Swimwear, sunglasses, sun protection, and plenty of water, plus enthusiasm, energy, and trust in your instructor.
What is included in the course?
All necessary equipment is provided, including current-year NORTH kitesurf equipment, as well as MYSTIC wetsuits, harnesses, vests, and helmets. Insurance, certification, and rescue boats are also included.
Can children learn kitesurfing?
Yes, children can learn kitesurfing with proper supervision from specialized instructors, typically during light wind conditions.
