About Watersports Mallorca
Watersports Mallorca has been a leading water sports school on the island since 1998, based on Playa de Muro in the Bay of Alcúdia. Licensed and affiliated with the Association of German Watersport Schools (VDWS), the school teaches kitesurfing, windsurfing, wingfoiling, catamaran sailing, surfing, and SUP, and welcomes children as well as people with physical impairments. What is included in the course prices?
Course prices include all necessary materials - boards, sails, kites, catamarans, wetsuits, harnesses, and life vests - plus accident and liability insurance.
How can I obtain a VDWS license?
Completing a course lets you obtain an internationally valid VDWS license, which allows you to rent surf or kite equipment elsewhere. The exam covers both theory and practical instruction, and course length varies with prior experience.
How old should children be to start windsurfing or kitesurfing?
An age of around 6 is recommended for windsurfing, while for kitesurfing a minimum body weight of about 30kg is recommended. A trial lesson can confirm individual suitability.
What languages are courses taught in?
Courses are taught in English, German, Spanish and Catalan, with other languages such as Italian, French, Dutch, Polish or Russian sometimes available depending on which instructors are on staff that season.
How can I book and pay for a course?
Courses and equipment can be booked online through the website, and paid for online by PayPal, credit card or bank transfer, or in person at the beach by credit card or cash in euros.
What days can I start a course?
A course can start on any day of the week.
Is windsurfing or surfing better for a child to learn?
Both suit children well. Windsurfing involves more equipment and content to learn, while good surf conditions come around only about once a week rather than daily, so many families combine the two.
