Kitesurfing lessons in Hurghada mean private or small-group coaching with KiteFlow, run personally by one IKO-certified instructor on a shallow, sandy beach between Hurghada and El Gouna. A 6-hour beginner course starts at €250 per person in a small group or €300 for one-to-one coaching, with hotel pickup included and all kite equipment provided. Here is how a course actually runs, what it costs, and what to pack.

Who teaches kitesurfing lessons in Hurghada?

KiteFlow is run by Dahshan, an IKO-certified instructor who has coached kitesurfing since 2015 and spent 15 years overall in Red Sea watersports, including five years as a beach boy and zodiac driver. He teaches personally, in private lessons or small groups of at most two students, rather than running a large multi-instructor school.

That personal setup is the main difference from a bigger kite centre: there is no waiting for your turn in a rotation, and the lesson is built around how you progress on the day rather than a fixed class schedule.

Before KiteFlow, Dahshan trained and taught at other Red Sea spots too, including Ras Sudr, Sharm El Sheikh, Hamata, Marsa Alam, Soma Bay and El Gouna, so Hurghada is one stop in a longer career on this coast rather than his first season teaching. He coaches in English, with Arabic as his native language, which covers most international guests.

What courses does KiteFlow offer, and what do they cost?

KiteFlow runs three formats: a private 1-on-1 course, a small-group course for up to two students, and a refresher or progression session for riders who already kite. Private lessons cost €300 for 6 hours, €400 for 9 hours or €500 for 12 hours; small-group lessons are €250, €350 or €450 per person for the same hours.

Small group, max 2 (per person)6 / 9 / 12 h€250 / €350 / €450Couples or friends learning together
Refresher / progression2 / 4 h€120 / €210Riders who already kite and want to tune up

A private lesson runs from €300 up to €500 for the full 12-hour course, usually spread over two or more days. The small-group option, taught for at most two students at a time, works out roughly €50 cheaper per person at every length, but you share the instructor's attention with your partner. All kite equipment, on Duotone Dice kites, is included in every format; see the exact private, group and refresher course pages for every duration and current price.

Which one to pick comes down to who you are travelling with and your budget. Solo travellers default to the private course, since there is no one to pair with for the group rate. Couples and friends at a similar level save money by booking the small-group course together, as long as both of you are happy to split the instructor's attention.

Where do lessons happen, and will someone pick you up?

Lessons run on Tiba View beach, a shallow, sandy stretch between Hurghada and El Gouna with no rocks or other obstacles on the bottom, so the exact teaching area is chosen by the tide and conditions on the day. KiteFlow picks you up from your hotel; pickup is included from Hurghada and costs €10 extra from Makadi Bay or Sahl Hasheesh.

You do not need your own transport for lessons: the instructor drives you to the beach and back after the session. See the full Hurghada kite spot guide for the other beaches along the coast, including Magawish and Soma Bay, which KiteFlow does not teach at.

What level will you reach after a beginner course?

A 6-hour course covers the first steps: body dragging, kite control and your first water-start attempts. The 9-hour course adds time to turn those attempts into short rides, and the 12-hour course gives the most room to practise toward riding independently upwind, though how far you get always depends on the wind and on you.

  • 6 hours: kite control on land and in the water, body dragging, and a first try at the water start.
  • 9 hours: the main beginner skills through to a water start or your first short rides.
  • 12 hours: more time to practise and work toward riding independently, course and conditions allowing.

Is Hurghada a good place to learn kitesurfing?

Yes. The coast has several shallow, sandy teaching areas, and Tiba View beach specifically has no rocks or dangerous obstacles on the bottom, according to the instructor who teaches there. Wind blows from the north to north-northwest on most days from March to October, so a multi-day course rarely loses a full day to no wind.

Winter still works for lessons, just with lighter, less predictable wind and bigger kites; our best time to kitesurf in Hurghada guide breaks the wind down month by month if your dates are flexible.

What should you bring, and what happens if there is no wind?

Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, water and clothing you do not mind getting wet and sandy; the kite equipment you need is provided. If conditions are not safe for a lesson, KiteFlow reschedules at no extra cost, and if a lesson is cut short because the wind drops or picks up too much, the unused time rolls over to another day.

There is no minimum age published for KiteFlow's courses; ask when you request a lesson if you are booking for a child or a teenager, since the right age depends on swimming ability as much as years.

What safety and rescue cover do you get?

Safety is built into the structure of the lesson rather than into separate equipment on the beach: Dahshan teaches one-to-one or in pairs, keeps you close to shore while you learn body dragging and kite control, and only lets you progress toward independent riding once you can keep the kite steady in the air.

There is no separate rescue boat or radio service at this beach, which is one reason the course stays close to shore and builds up gradually rather than sending you out alone early. If being near a station with its own rescue boat matters more to you than personal coaching, ask about that trade-off before you book; the shallow, obstacle-free water at Tiba View beach is also what keeps a fall low-risk in the first place.

How does booking work on kitesurfing.me?

You request a course on the Hurghada kitesurfing page or the KiteFlow profile: pick your dates and format, send the request, and the school confirms the exact times with you directly. Nothing is charged online through kitesurfing.me.

You pay KiteFlow in cash, in euros, on the first day before the lesson starts; no card or online payment is taken for the lesson itself. You can cancel or reschedule free of charge, even at short notice, as long as you let the instructor know as early as you can so he can plan around it.

Should you also look at El Gouna before you book?

If your trip is not fixed to Hurghada yet, it is worth a look: El Gouna is about 25 km north, shares the same wind and airport, and puts you on a purpose-built kite lagoon rather than a beach reached by hotel pickup. Our guide to Hurghada or El Gouna for kitesurfing sets out the difference beach by beach.

How much do kitesurfing lessons cost in Hurghada?

With KiteFlow, a private 6-hour course is €300, rising to €500 for 12 hours; a small-group course for up to two students is €250 to €450 per person for the same lengths. A refresher or progression session for riders who already kite is €120 for 2 hours or €210 for 4.

Is KiteFlow a kite school or private coaching?

Private coaching. Dahshan runs KiteFlow himself in Hurghada, so it is not a large traditional school with multiple instructors. Lessons are built around one-to-one or small-group attention, with at most two students sharing an instructor at a time.

What should I bring to a kitesurfing lesson in Hurghada?

Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, drinking water and clothing you do not mind getting wet and sandy. All the kite equipment you need for the lesson, including the kite, bar and board, is provided and included in the course price.

How do I pay for a lesson, and can I cancel for free?

You pay KiteFlow in cash, in euros, on the first day of your course; there is no online or card payment. You can cancel or reschedule free of charge, even at short notice, as long as you let the instructor know as soon as you can.

Do I need previous experience to book a beginner course?

No. The private and small-group courses are built for complete beginners, starting with kite control and body dragging before the first water-start attempts. If you already ride, book the shorter refresher or progression session instead.
